There is no knockout: each team plays seven times, from the first match to the last. There is also the Americano version, with 8 players changing partners every round and an individual ranking.

How the match ends

This is the distinction that trips up almost everyone — and it comes from beach tennis, not from the app. There are two match formats:

A match OF N games — the classic Super 8. The two scores add up to N. With 6: 6×0, 5×1, 4×2 and 3×3. The available totals are 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12.
A match TO N games — whoever reaches the target wins. With a target of 4 that means 4×0, 4×1, 4×2 and 4×3, and ties don't exist. The targets are 2, 3, 4 and 6.

Why “to 6 games” produces a score that can't happen

In a real set nobody closes at 6×5: at 5-all you play on to 7×5, and at 6-all it goes to a tiebreak. So “to 6” invites you to write down a result that never happens on court. That is why the Super 8 is played as a match of 6 games, with the two scores summing to 6. If you do want the full-set rule, turn on the 2-game margin in Step 2 — the option only appears in a match to 6 — and then 7×5 and 7×6 become valid.

And when it's a tie?

With an even total (4, 6, 8, 10, 12) a tie is possible, and the organizer decides what to do with it back in Step 2:

Ties count — the 3×3 is recorded as it stands. This is what most leagues do.
Deciding game — one extra game is played and the score becomes 4×3.

How points are counted

In Fixed Pairs the organizer picks the unit that scores, in Step 2 — Format › Scoring type:

In a match of N games the app starts on Wins — the rule the sand leagues actually use. A tie scores nothing there, but it doesn't vanish either: its games feed the tiebreak, which is the very next criterion. In Americano there is no choice — the ranking is individual and counts games won.

Who comes out on top when the table ties

Two teams on the same points is the norm, not the exception. The app resolves it on its own, in the order set by the scoring type: under Wins it looks first at the number of wins, then game balance, then games won, and finally head to head — a recalculation using only the matches between the tied teams. If everything is still identical, the app doesn't quietly draw lots: it stops, says so, and lets the organizer order them by hand. Every cascade, in exact order.

How long it takes

A Fixed Pairs Super 8 is 28 matches. With 4 courts they fit into 7 rounds of 4 simultaneous matches — if a 6-game match takes about 20 minutes, the whole tournament runs a little over two hours. What goes wrong here

Inviting 8 people to a Fixed Pairs Super 8. That format means 8 teams — 16 people. With 8 people the format is Americano.
Choosing “to 6 games” thinking it's the Super 8. They're different: “to 6” allows a 6×4, and rejects 3×3.
Writing down 6×5. It doesn't exist in either format, unless the 2-game margin is on — and then the score would be 7×5.
Switching format after the start. Once you tap Generate and start the schedule is built; changing format means creating another tournament.

Why the format works this way

The Super 8 exists to solve a beach problem: too many people show up for one court, and nobody wants to be knocked out in the first half hour. A round robin of short matches guarantees both — each team plays seven times, and losing your first match doesn't end your tournament. It's also why the match is of N games rather than to: with the two scores summing to a fixed number, every match has a predictable length and the whole schedule fits in the morning.
